We are Aleksandr and Bonnie, and we are beyond excited to announce that together, we are Creative Dance Collective. With our extensive experience as certified instructors, performers, competitors, and social dancers, we bring a wealth of skills and knowledge of the dance industry to our students.
Our mission is to build a community of dancers and creative types of various levels and backgrounds, as well as to provide them with a dance studio to call home. A community that values mutual respect, trust, and communication. An environment where we all encourage each other to grow as people, not just as dancers. And a community where elitist views are washed away, and cliques and boundaries between different styles of dance no longer exist; instead, we encourage one another to step outside of our comfort zones and explore new and diverse styles of dancing. We are here to educate and support both students and professionals on their dance journeys. True dancers are lifelong students, and we are honored to be a part of your journey.
Aleksandr Tarasenko was born and raised in Chernihiv, Ukraine, where he started dancing at the age of 6. After only dancing for a few months, he participated in his first competition and took 2nd place!
At age 13 he had earned enough respect as a dancer to begin teaching the juniors at his dance studio while also training with his dance partner for over 35 hours a week! The hard work paid off soon, though, as he won his first national competition the next year at 14 years old. He also was a finalist in the largest and most exclusive dance competition in the world, Blackpool Dance Festival, and a finalist at the Dutch Open Dance Competition.
After continued success in his dancing, he decided to further his education and obtained his Master’s Degree in Sport Physiology at the National University of Physical Education and Sport of Ukraine. While he was going to school, he continued teaching and managing full time at one of the most prestigious dance studios in Ukraine, “Shans”.
He moved to the USA in 2018, and after teaching at multiple different studios in Arizona, he is excited to share his knowledge and expertise with his students within his own studio.
Bonnie Yuen was born in Hong Kong, and moved to the United States when she was 6 years old. Her dancing began in high school -- studying and performing basic ballet, jazz, modern, lyrical and contemporary. When she turned 18, she danced for the WNBA Phoenix Mercury Hip Hop Squad and for the AFL Arizona Rattlers Sidewinder team. From there, she taught and competed in hip hop, as well as Brazilian Samba, and had a short professional career as an aerialist. In 2009, Bonnie started her ballroom career and began to teach and compete in American Rhythm and Smooth with students and professionally. Throughout her ballroom career of 15+ years, she achieved awards in Top New Student Specialist, Top Competitive Student Teacher, Top Regional Teacher, and many more. In her professional career, she has won titles including Rising Star American Rhythm Vice-Champion, National American Smooth finalist, Regional American Smooth Champion, and more. Now, she is excited to share all of her knowledge and experience at CDC Studio!
